This blog is going to reflect excerpts from my upcoming pamphlet (Don't want to call it a "book" just yet) on how I lost nearly 50 pounds in just over 3 months, 48 pounds and counting to be exact.
The pamphlet is based on 7 things I did initially to lose weight. I have used all of these methods to lose weight in the past but I have never put them all together. (Will get back to that later). The first of the seven was to pray to God in heaven. I really mean pray. I begged God to do something to help with my Extra Large problem. I promised God that if he helped me I would show anyone who wanted to know what I did to lose the weight and how God helped me. This blog and my upcoming pamphlet are just the start to that promise.
I have been praying my entire life. My brothers and I (and my sister too), were taught from an early age to pray. I can remember even as a child eight or nine years old praying for food, safety, and even for my mom and dad hoping that they would always just be there. Obviously I pray for food a lot more than I should have. I even prayed for a car once and received two free cars that ran well enough to take to college. One of the cars did not have a passenger side door but you get the picture. I have been over weight my entire life as well, but I can't remember ever just praying to Jesus and asking for a way to lose the weight.
So I begged and pleaded with God to do something to help me. At first it did not seem like my prayers were getting any where. I felt like the roof to my house was keeping the message from getting to heaven and even though I knew this was not true, I went outside and looked up into the star filled night and spoke out loud " help me please". Earlier that evening I looked up "how to pray" in my Ellen G. White commentaries. On page 144 of Patriarchs and Prophets, I read that prayers are like sweet fragrances that ascend to heaven like incense. Maybe the roof was holding in the fragrance. The very next morning I saw some pictures of my self while the group was performing at Oakwood College. That was it! I started walking that day, which leads into my next blog. Walk, Walk, Walk ... See you next time..........
